Experience:

After a number of years as a senior social worker in adult social care, I chose to retrain as a counsellor. I began my counselling practice in the voluntary sector but also have been offering online counselling independently. My experience includes working with people who have been through traumas- and I recognise that trauma can come in many forms, including, for example, bullying or other adverse childhood experiences- stress, low self-esteem, addictions, anxiety and depression.

I am passionate about what counselling can offer. I also retain strong values about human rights and anti-oppressive practice.

What do I offer?

I am trained in person centred counselling, but also draw on other counselling approaches including the psychodynamic and transpersonal; In particular, though, my work is very informed by the

Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach to counselling. IFS is very much about us working with ways we carry wounds from our past and protect ourselves from the impact of these or wounds or from re-experiencing similar wounds. The focus of the work is acknowledging and valuing these defences and promoting a compassionate inner dialogue. With the agreement of these defences, healing can then take place. Work is only done with the permission of each part of you. It is wholly up to you what you want to work on in each session, including what you feel safe enough to explore at any point.

I offer weekly one to one counselling for adults and this could be either short or long term according to your needs.
